Astrology is popularly recognized by the general public by what is called someone’s Sun Sign: what astrological sign is assigned to their birth date!

What is less popularly recognized by the masses is that Astrology is actually often more than one sign- there’s your “Big 3” (Sun, Moon, and Ascendant or Rising), your big 6 (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter), traditional planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn), and then there’s also Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and other Asteroids, calculated points and applying aspects, etc.

My name is Rei and I'm a Chinese American who is passionate about Tarot and Astrology. On my downtime, I like to watch movies with friends, explore historically significant places, cook, go to the golf range, listen to new music, and have deep discussions with people of all backgrounds; I really love NYC and the diversity of people here.

My career started as a financial analyst, doing data analysis and projections with the data from financial statements; then I worked in tech startups for three years focused on marketing and research; lately I've taken on part-time jobs as a barista and bartender.

I really enjoy talking with people and helping them feel heard and seen; this genuinely brings me so much joy.

Astrology, Tarot and free will go hand in hand (and hand)-

there is nuance in how you choose to play the cards you are dealt in life.

On Astrology: One of my favorite analogies to use is that Astrology is a lot like knowing your travel itinerary or like having a map for when you’re going hiking: for example, if you are traveling and plan to visit New York City, there are so many things you can do! You can explore what New York City is known for, like traveling to Lady Liberty, riding the subway, getting a chopped cheese from one of the local bodegas, pronounce “Houston” like “hows-tonne” (iykyk); or, you could come to NYC and decide to not do any of that and just stay with your family and not go out for the duration of your stay. Ultimately, you are coming to NYC- what you choose to do while you’re here is up to you;
let’s take hiking with a map for another example: sure, you can have a map that tells you the elevation of different areas, show you where lakes and rivers are, where the forrest is thick or where animals are likely to be- but throw in some other factors like: are you hiking by yourself? Are you hiking with a friend? Is this friend new to hiking or are they an experienced hiker? Is this hiking trip a team bonding retreat with your coworkers or a romantic excursion with your date? So many factors affect how you use the map to embark on your hike- astrology is the map and your free will is how you decide to use the astrology information you are given.

On Tarot: Tarot is ironically simpler to execute and act on than Astrology; there’s a slight Dunning-Kruger effect to understanding Astrology; for Tarot, you can read as much literature as you want, but the meaning of the tarot cards can only truly be discovered by an individuals through sheer volume of practice; each tarot reader has their own understanding of the cards and how to use them; I have done enough tarot readings to know that I have been able to pinpoint specific descriptions of scenarios, people, feelings and dynamics to the point that people get goosebumps from how accurate my readings are! My tarot readings are great for providing yes or no answers or giving more descriptive answers.

There are 78 cards in a standard tarot deck, and each card is unique.

Every Tarot Reader has their own style of reading; personally, I read tarot intuitively and draw as many cards as I feel is necessary to answer the question at hand. Each tarot card has multiple meanings both upright and reversed, and the meanings of each card are nuanced based on their relative position to each other; as you can imagine, there are many many interpretations of the cards that can play out, telling a very specific narrative.
